LIT036 Jamie Allen, Three Canonic Duets. Parts (Both AA and TT versions are included). Level: Lower-Intermediate (4-5). $12.00
Music for playing from afar or in person. In the composer's own words: "Soon after the Covid-19 pandemic led to shelter-in-place orders throughout North America, I started experimenting with compositional approaches that would allow fellow recorder players to continue to enjoy a sense of camaraderie while staying safely at home. My “Eureka!" moment came after attending an online Amherst Early Music class on the Canonic Duets of Telemann, presented by the wonderful Heloise Degrugillier. Here was an established and long-admired form that lent itself beautifully to the modern challenge at hand. Any number of people could learn a single piece of music, and then play it remotely as a duet, without having to deal with audio latency issues. And one could easily enjoy a different experience of the piece by taking turns being the first or second voice. Music-minus-one opportunities for the duets in this edition are available at https://jamieallencomposer.us. Of course, they are even more enjoyable to play and perform with other people in person. Whichever way you choose, the canonic duet is a uniquely rewarding experience for both performer and listener."
